The AVUS collection was inspired by Berlin's legendary automobile traffic and practice road. It runs approximately nine kilometers straight from the radio tower through the Grunewald forest to Nikolassee. The AVUS also commemorates Bernd Rosemeyer, who set the fastest lap here in 1937 with an average speed of 276.39 km/h – a record that stood for decades. Our ASKANIA AVUS captures this myth and embodies the original ASKANIA design of the 1920s
On September 24, 2021, the Avus (A115) will be 100 years old. Even the opening was a resounding success, as a Berlin newspaper reported back in 1921. On September 25, approximately 500,000 Berliners cheered on the 68 participants in the first car race on the newly opened Avus. ASKANIA's timekeeping was crucial then, as it is today.The AVUS model series commemorates this legendary era! In 1951, 350,000 spectators attended the race after World War II. During the division of Berlin, the "Avus Race" was one of the most well-attended events in western Berlin. Racing on the track was banned on May 1, 1999. 100 years of Avus and 150 years of Askania (1871-2021), a unique motorway and a unique industrial legend, are part of Berlin's authentic contemporary history.
